Whilst the NHS is committed to covering the full costs of our vaccination programme and COVID-19 work, St John Ambulance needs funds to secure and develop our volunteer support to the community. In 2021 this will include: attending community events when they restart; responding to emergencies with our flexible response teams available on foot, on bicycle and by ambulance; working with local partners to provide special projects such as clinics for the homeless or falls services for the elderly. The volunteers at the core of our charity are amazing people, bringing care and compassion into their communities, alongside their clinical skills. As they support the public, we must support them.
“Some people may find it surprising that we're doing this from a voluntary perspective, but it's why we train week in week out, striving to have the highest standards to ensure we can help in times like this. I feel incredibly proud to play my part; in particular training other volunteers who are going to go out and help in their local community.”
